The Schools Mental Health Innovation Challenge
The Schools Mental Health Innovation Challenge is a dynamic initiative designed to empower schools across Uganda to create and implement tailored mental health and well-being solutions that meet the unique needs of their students.

This annual challenge invites schools to take an active role in addressing mental health by designing creative, practical, and sustainable interventions that promote awareness, support, and resilience within their communities.

Each year, Twogere partners with hundreds of schools, guiding them to develop impactful projects that tackle real mental health challenges faced by young people. From these, three outstanding innovations are selected based on their impact, feasibility, and potential for long-term success. These winning projects each receive a seed grant of $200, along with mentorship, tools, and networking opportunities to support effective implementation and growth.

Our mentorship model offers expert guidance, hands-on resources, and peer learning to help schools strengthen their ideas and scale their impact. The ultimate goal is to foster lasting change—embedding mental health and well-being into the heart of school culture, and equipping schools to become safe, supportive spaces where every learner can thrive.
