Economic Empowerment

Young people living with mental health conditions often face exclusion from employment due to stigma, discrimination, and lack of support. This limits their ability to earn a living and worsens feelings of isolation and low self-worth.

Twogere addresses this gap by providing targeted livelihood training and startup support. Through our school and community programs, we identify youth in need and equip them with practical skills in tailoring, hairdressing, crafts, and agriculture. We also offer business development guidance, peer mentorship, and small grants to help them launch income-generating activities.

As a result, youth who were once marginalized are now contributing to their families, running businesses, and supporting others. By promoting economic inclusion, we’re proving that mental health recovery must include opportunity and empowerment.

“Starting my own salon changed everything. For the first time, I feel proud of myself—and people in my community do too.”
